That the purpose of this Corporation shall be fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable, and educational: to preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members; to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead; and to assist their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America, and fidelity to its Constitution and laws; to foster true patriotism; to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom, and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies.

VFW Post 6970 | Life Member & Purple Heart Post

Dear Veterans and Families, Post Members, and Citizens of Poteet and Atascosa County,

For over 50 years, VFW Post 6970 has proudly served veterans, their families, and our community. As a Life Member and Purple Heart Post, we remain committed to supporting veterans, promoting patriotism, and strengthening our community through service.

Our members volunteer with the monthly PSFA Food Distribution, support the annual Strawberry Festival grounds workdays, participate in the Adopt-A-Highway Program on Highway 476, and work alongside local organizations such as the Poteet Strawberry Festival Association, Lions Club, Scouting programs, and the City of Poteet.

Serve. Support. Strengthen. Post 6970 calls on veterans, families, students, youth groups, civic organizations, and community partners to stand with us in the programs we proudly offer and support—from scholarships, Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen, Post Scholarship, Volunteer Firefighter Appreciation, Civil Air Patrol awards, Scouting programs, and the VMax Flight Simulation Competition Regional Youth STEM Initiative to community events, nonprofit support, civic functions, and county elections. Together, we build opportunities, honor service, and strengthen our community.

Our mission is simple: to serve veterans, support their families, give back to our community, and ensure the sacrifices of America's veterans are never forgotten.
